Eating Human POOP for Infections? What !!!

Canadian Researchers have had a 100% success rate in treating the bacterial infection Clostridium difficile (C. diff). after antibiotics have failed to work. It is an actual "fecal matter transplant" and it is done by processing poop from a healthy donor into a capsule and giving the infected individual a massive dose of bacteria orally.

Half a million Americans get C diff. infections each year, and about 14,000 die. The germ causes nausea, cramping and diarrhea so bad it is often disabling. A very potent and pricey antibiotic can kill C. diff but also destroys good bacteria that live in the gut, leaving it more susceptible to future infections.

This raises some fascinating implications about the medicine that we have available to us, all around us, and even inside of us! We have all heard about the benefits of the healthy bacteria- but here, we see, that healthy bacteria may not have to come from a bottle of expensive probiotics purchased at the store- but straight from Mother Nature.
